Hey again all!
Just another update for the 10 black. I'm in the process for retrofitting a small AquaClear as a refugium also to add opposite lighting periods for this bag of chaetomorph I was finally able to find in the store a few days ago.
I also added a couple of friends into the 10 black; a pair of black clowns to complement everything around them ^_^ I was wanting to pick up a frag or two, but my shop had their lights breaker burn out in last night's wind storm so when I got to the shop today the lights had just been turned back on. All the corals in the display tub looked like crap unfortunately... absolutely NOTHING was open.. Anyway here are my new buddies:

update on the 10 black: Today I cleaned out the AquaClear 30 from the old broken down 5, modded it a little bit and turned it into a HOB refugium running beside the AQ50. My chaetomorph has been burning a hole in the bag I brought it home from the store in, so I placed the flow on the lowest setting, and let it run. All I need to do now is install a light, and create a little dark cabinet so that light doesn't spill out into the display at night so the chaeto can grow. That's what I got so far!

Hey all
I've just gotten back from a week in the Bahamas exploring parts of Nassau, Freeport, and Half Moon Cay ^_^ I had my fishie friend take care of my guys while I was gone. Before I left if you remember, I had modded and installed my little AC30 to be a slow flow refugium for the 10 black. Well, I came home to a dilemma: dozens of little aiptasia over my candy cane and trumpet coral stems... They're all less than 1/4 of an inch in length and I don't want to scrape them off resulting in aggravating the problem even more. See them?
*growls* there are tiny little white specs with tentacles scattered across the glass in the back... I'm thinking they came from my refugium and the fresh chaetomorpha I had put into there. Oh well... looks like I'm going to have to get a couple peppermints tomorrow for some eradication. I've also been looking into the 1w 405nm purple blue ray lasers for quick target removal, I'm still reluctant to cough up the 200 bucks for one. *sighs* Oh well..

They look like pineapple sponges, not aptasia. They are harmless and beneficial for filtration, but they look a bit odd. You can pick them off and they should not spread.

Oooooo! That's a real relief. Thanks :-) they ARE unfortunately causing my candy cane to make strange shapes with its head...

Take some tweezers and just pluck them off the corals and rocks if you like, but you may want to leave some in. I had a bloom of pineapple sponges 3 months back, there almost all gone now, they only live in my overflow now. I never picked any out, they just disappeared after a while. They stay small and just filter your water.
